First Time in India Tips

Here’s a quick checklist of things you’ll need:

Start working on a few months before your trip

  • Obtain Health Insurance before you leave your country of departure. If you forget you can still purchase once you’ve left but it will cost you a lot more. Companies such as World Nomad offer travel insurance for people already traveling. http://www.worldnomad.com.
  • Get Vaccinations – current recommended ones are Typhoid, Yellow Fever, Polio, Tetanus, Hepatitis A and B.
  • Malaria Tablets – ask your doctor for a prescription.
  • Visa – direct from the Indian Embassy or Consulate or through a travel firm. If you’re from the US, I would recommend the 10 year multiple entry via, from Europe, you get a lot less.
  • Current passport – recommend having at least 6 months.
